diaphram for F14 fuel pump

I had the diaphragm start leaking gas on the fuel pump of my F14 while raking hay this summer. Is there a sheet of something I can buy and just cut out a new one myself. Everything else on the pump is good. I know I can buy one from Rice equipment but I'm guessing postage will cost more than the part.

My F-14 has not ran for about 10years now with the same problem. I tried making one out of something and it did not work, so there it has sat. Let us know what you find.

There was an outfit advertising in one of the "old iron" or antique engine mags that had either new or rebuilt fuel pumps. Old neighbor knew I needed one and gave me the add but I have since misplaced it.

Good luck,, Gene

Ive heard of them being made out of some sort of rubber, heck one guy boasted he made his from a milk jug. Its in the archive somewhere. I personally dont see how to take the diaphram apart.

The old 29-39 or so chevy 6 cyls used the same fuel pump housing but possibly a different pump arm. One thing to note! modern gas may eat an old diaphram to pieces. The rubber used is not compatable with alcohol and the oxygenated fuel sold in California and some of the larger city areas around the US will destroy them also. The new rebuild kits are supposed to be compatable with the new fuels. just cutting a diaphram out os something laying around may work for a while, but you could end up with the carb clogged with a gooey mess.
