Looking for Farmall M Carburator

Only numbers I can find on the existing Farmall M carb are: 8 ( then a lot of space) 5 Then below what looks to read E7. I do have the serial number of the tractor - FBK 109099 X1
Would like to obtain a replacement carb - or at least a basic carb repair kit - -but not sure what replacement parts would be appropriate. Could not find these numbers (E7 or 8 5) in the OEM parts cross reference listing.

That is only partially correct. Indeed the model is E-12, but there are 2 versions. 50983DC is for the gasoline only with the X1 serial number suffix, and carburetor number 47387DC is for the distillate fuel version with NO serial number suffix. The 2 carburetors are basically the same, and will readily interchange. The 47387 can be rebuilt with the kit for the 50983, and is then set up correctly for an M that is using gasoline. The 2 numbers, 47387 and 50983 can be found on a small, round, brass tag that is riveted to the top portion of the carb in the area where the governor tube attaches.

Bonnie,

they are regularly for sale on eBay.I bought mine on eBay for 9.99 Bucks. Also from same seller a pre-cleaner with Ball jar and some other nice parts for 19 Bucks. He parted out an M.

For genuine Farmall H or M parts no one can beat eBay prices and diversity......

My 2 cents.....

You bought a complete carburetor for $9.99? Or just a gasket kit?

I watch the Farmall carburetors regularly. Very rarely have I watched a complete Farmall M carburetor sell for less than $75, and that is for a core that needs to be rebuilt.

I've bought several used carburetors from sellers on ebay. Some of those were exactly as described and were easy to rebuild. Some of them were in much worse condition than described but I was still able to rebuild them, and several were SO BAD I could not even salvage any parts out of them. If you go shopping on ebay, it is "buyer beware".

Its a bit of challenge to get material as cheap and in good shape as possible but not any problem. There a some sellers on eBay who are tear down complete M's and H's or whatever type and put all material for US9.99 Bucks on eBay.

When your lucky no one needs for that moment a carburator but on the other hand 5 people bid at same time.Than it goes up to 50 bucks or more.

Heatshield and pre-cleaners are wanted. The best is to bid on uncleaned, unpainted dirty oily objects and that always worked out for me.They were MOSTLY good shape.A crankshaft for my MV for US52.Can a salvage do the same?
2 great fenders 122 and my carburator as said:9.99.Thats why I like eBay...........
Belt pulley's.Not any problem to find one in every shape.

I even deal with someone outside eBay and has 36 M's and H's in his backyard for salvage.Every part that is sold brings more than scrapped old iron. That's why I like eBay.............

People on this forum who are always negative in every way about this "marketplace"haven't got any idea how it works in digital world and maybe they are used to drive around for 10 hours from salvage to salvage to get the pre-cleaner for their great M or H.For that amount of spilled gasoline USPS will ship from San Diego CA to Albany,NY........

Anyone who uses this forum most likely also uses ebay and most likely have also made several digital transactions involving other websites. I am not negative about ebay, but since I have made several purchases as well as sold a lot of items on ebay, I am very cautious.
