Farmall 574

Hi Michael, there were different speed transmissions available on the 74 series tractors. So you have to determine the speed options of your tractor from the serial number suffix. See below from 574 parts manual:

A Suffix Letter Code, as outlined below, is added to the Chassis or Power Train Serial Number as a means of identifying tractors with special features, thus facilitating servicing This code applies primarily to special features that replace standard parts or units used internally, but alto nay be used to identify tractors equipped with one of two or more optional parts wherein identification at said optional parts is deemed necessary to proper servicing Each suffix letter used is stamped In the blank apace following the serial number located on the upper left hand side of the Clutch Housing Bell
Attachments that do not affect replacement of 5tandard parts or unite have not been cadet
(examp1e: 000SO1BS represents a 20 MPH Transmission with 14/51 Bevel Cart).
SUFFIX LETTER POWER TRAIN SPECIAL. FEATURES OR OPTIONAL PARTS
A - SLOW SPEED GEAR BOX
B - FAST SPEED GEAR BOX
C - SLOW SPEED GEAR BOX W/SLOW first
R. - 12153 BEVEL GEAR SET
S - 14151 BEVEL GEAR. SET
T - BEVELGEAR SET
W - COMPRESSOR DRIVE SHSFT
X - 614 OR 642 RPM IPTO
Y - 606 RPM IPTO
Z - 623 RPM IPTO

Thanks for the info. I've check my number it reads 1662819R91 then 174233BRX. Is this a 20 mph Transmission or does it have a differant rating?
