Radiator pads too tall?

I bought a pair of pads that go under my radiator from OEM. When I install the grill, it sits over the bolster, and doesn't seat down, for a clean line, like it should. I'm assuming that I'm going to have to shave these pads down, correct?
I wish they hadn't come so thick! I thought they would fit exactly!

I don't quite understand this. The grill should cover it entirely and you won't see how high it is with grill on?

In my experience, they might just need to be crushed a little by tightening the radiator down a little more. Doesn't take muc to get things to line back up.

OK Reread the post, Now I understand. How thick are they? I have a ton of nylon reinforced conveyor belt material that is .30 thick. You can have enough to cut a couple pads. What are they, circular right? What diameter?

I haven't taken it apart yet to pull those pads. It doesn't mention the diameter in the catalog. Part # 47240D. I'd guess 3 inches in diameter?

Mike, if the steering shaft fits through the hole in the radiator without rubbing anywhere, then those new pads are correct. The grill is not supposed to fit down flush on the bolster. None of mine do.

Really? The H's I've seen with the nicest "fit", meaning the grill, hood, and tank all form that single straight line, have all been flush with the bolster.

Here is a picture of the nicest H I have ever seen, owned by a friend in my tractor club. Please note how the grill is flush with the bolster, and the grill, hood, and tank form a single straight line. This is what I'm trying to emulate.
