560 wide front axle

I have a newly acquired 560 with what I believe is a schartz wide front end(don"t know how to ID the front end). One of the front hubs has been broken and welded, but doesn"t look like a sound repair. Where can you get a new hub and how do you identify what front end is on the tractor?

CG: The pivot that bolts to tractor on all IH wide fronts is cast. The Schartz is made of fabricated steel plate. I suspect all other aftermarket frontends are same as Schartz.

That doesn't surprise me, I snapped the hub and axle off the Swartz wide front on my 350. The factory weld only had penetration on about 1/3 of the weld. The fact it had held for 30 years was probably due to the light use the tractor had enjoyed - putting a loader on the front has added quite a bit of stress.

After I ground the weld off I took the spindle and hub to a welding shop to have it done right. I would suspect you could do the same with yours. I was tempted to try it myself but the thought of losing the front hub again while in road gear made me decide on using a guy that trained in welding.

During that era there were probably 4 different makers of wide fronts. Of course IH made one, and then there was Norden, Speeco, and Schwartz.
Norden is gone from the picture completely and replacement parts are very hard to find. Schwartz and Speeco are now the same company and still producing parts as well as complete assemblies, and of course IH parts are readily available also.

One way to identify between a Schwartz or Speeco is to look at the tie rods. The Speeco tie rods have holes. The Schwartz has notches.
