Super C mower belt wont stay on!

Hello, my neighbor has a Super C with a 5 foot belly mower, his old belt broke so he purchased a new one and it won't stay on the pully's. We have tried putting a little more twist on it but the same thing happens. The new belt seems quite loose to me, but the tensioner is all the way out (as tight as it will get it) and I can still move the belt a couple of inches back and forth at it's longest span between pully's. Any ideas or tricks that may help would be appreciated.
Thanks!
Mark

Take the belt off and turn it over so it runs the other way. I have had this hapen a time or two. You can move the mower ahead by changing holes to move the deck ahead. Are you using the pto drive or the belt pulley drive. Tighten the belt plenty as loose belts are the biggest cause of failure.

those are better i would take a piece of chalk and make an arrow so you know the direcrion its running now then remove and run it in the other direction. I have had the same problem with a new belt so i just reversed it and it ran fine.

Make sure you've got the mower belt routed properly. Woods mower decks have a very specific sequence for routing the belt in the owners manual that comes with the deck. You gotta go over this pulley, over that pulley, add a 3/4 twist, run it over another pulley, yada yada yada. If you don't do it right it won't be tight.

Also make sure you got the right belt. It may be too long.

If the old belt was Woods and the new one is not does make a differance. The Woods belt is a little thicker. Therefore the new belt will be loose.
