</a>p>Now this "H" smoker IS self-propelled. It is the same one that Mike CA spoke of. It is a tour de force. Just look at the trailer for some nice engineering. The fire box is where the rear frame once was. A small two cycle deep reduction motor powers the tractor. You can see the 1" exhaust pipe in some of the pictures. It would be hard to top this smoker/cooker.

I think it was Glenster who mentioned this tractor.

Meanwhile, I am in the process of removing my IH sickle bar mower from my small Clark forklift to my F400 to do the same job. I am using the mower as a hedge trimmer. I need a little more operator height and prime mover weight. It will plug into my front fast hitch. Pictures later.

In order to avoid any confusion, I did not build either tractor in this post. The smoker was from Texas in 2007. Don't know where it is today.

wardner, thats the tractor i was talking about!!! neat looking rascal, tho i'd prefer drivin it to being one of the peddlers!!! thanks for posting the pics!!! glenn

Howdy, Wardner! That F or FP(foot power)-20 is something else. If that guy found a bunch of Dan Blocker look-a-likes, to power the pedal tractor, he'd have an 8 Hoss tractor. ;^) *Sigh* All humor aside, that H is one mean grillin' machine. Glad to see the fruit of creation in it's finished form. Speakin' of creation, how's your "Swiss Army Farmall" comming? You mentioned a Dana 60 front with an air locker being close to fruition & a mower for your front FH. I can't wait! The mower sounds like an idea I've been beating around. My idea differs in the fact that I want the front mower to cut directly in front of the tractor so I can make two cuts, maybe three. I'm hung up on figuing out a left-hand cutter bar setup. I know I want to use a wobble drive vs. a pitman, for ease of mounting. Anyways, my best to you and your endeavors - Mike

P.S. Thanks for the pics.

Here is my hydraulically driven and modified IH 130 Balanced Head mower that fits my Clark forklift. It is going on the front of my F400 that will have a forklift mast that plugs into the front fast hitch. It will cut in any position and any height to 10'. I'll be using the creeper drive that's already built. The come-a-long corrects the camber so that I get a flat cut when the bar is horizontal

Although I have never seen a left hand sickle bar mower, it shouldn't be too difficult to re-drill the bar so that the rock guards are on the other side. Maybe the British use left hand mowers. They have left hand sidecars and even Harley-Davidson made a few for use in the USA. I think the police depts used them for writing parking tickets.

The poor man's front wheel drive won't be completed for some time. I might get back to it during the winter.

A mower on a Clarklift? That is theeee coolest! I like the idea of mounting it to forks on your front FH. Reminds me of my Galaxie with the CD player to cassette tape adapter, cassette tape to 8 track adapter, rigged into the AM radio & I was wired for sound with my mighty (paper cone) dash speaker. Sure, I could shorten the ensamble, but life is no fun without gadgets. As for the LH & front mount mowers, I was wondering if there was some place I could find blank slabs. I'd also like to find a slab with no taper for the front mower. Is that a special kind of iron or steel. It seems to be a springy metal, whatever it may be. Are there any good tips, you may have, for such an extensive undertaking? I'm all ears. Thanks & keep up the great work (oh, don't forget the pics) - Mike

Crazy,

You are asking alot of questions that I can't answer because I am not a farmer. But I learn from going to auctions and shows. If you are building custom mowers, you might want to look at haybines (?) for a different approach to sickle bar mowers.

My apologies, I did not mean to put you on the spot. Just lookin' for ideas. I do look for inspiration at shows, but I never thought to look at an auction. I don't take in as many auctions as I used to. I went out & bought up what I needed & kinda quit going. I have a little problem, when it comes to auctions. Can't see a perfectly good $.50 pile of junk, that I can use "some day", go to the scrapper. Those "ideas" usually ended up on the pile. A different mind set, hopefully, will keep me out of trouble. Thanks - Mike
