Hi
I am wanting to put a small block chevy in a m. I have serched the web over 3 times and cannot find a single thing about it. I have an idea of how to do it but was looking for some help. We dont have a hot rod class where i live but there are alot of pulls. I would like to get one started. Any info would be a big help

You might start with the history of the 460 and 560 Farmalls just as a guide to what else you'll need to build up.

They have been putting v-8s in the Ms for at least 40yrs or more. Just take the engine and frame off and start over not hard to do but you will need more power ifn ya are going to pull.

Not hard to do you will have to use the M fly wheel and redrill it and the M back engine plate and the rest is done with the gas ax and welder . But you would be way ahead of the game if ya went with a big inch big block and also had a steel billet flywheel made for your safty as the old M flywheel will have a few strech marks in it and it will not withstand much over 2400 RPM before it becomes a bomb

All your replies have helped me. I was planning on useing the back plate but didnt know if i should use a 3 speed bell housing. Aas far as the rearend goes i have heard that they will hold up, but i am not sure. Heard of some guys needleing the rearend with 706 bearings is that true. Thanks again for the info
