I have a 195? I.H 300 utility that has been worked on by many
"wrenchers/adapters/substituters" now I need
some knowledge about---
1--Battery ? positive/negative ground ?
2-Been changed to 12 volt, is a 12 volt starter needed?
Enough for now my 70 year old brain can only wrap around so much at one time, I shall return
if you all will allow.

If it's 12v with an alternator, negative ground is pretty definite.

The starter probaly started life running on 6v. 12v won't hurt it any as long as you don't have to make it turn for too long.

C'mon back when your head clears or if this isn't making sense.
 
Where do I find the serial number for this tractor?
What would cause the starter to lock up,not crank,
until I unbolt it slide it to the rear and spin
the gear by hand then reinstall?
my Memory overload.
