544 gas valve stuck

I started my 544 today and when cranking I could tell one valve was stuck open. It started, missed on one cylinder for about 15 seconds, then ran ok. I use this tractor regularly, but it had set about a month without running. It has set that long before with no problem, and it runs very well. What would cause a valve to stick? I use premium gas. I have thought about trying the Lucas fuel additive, any opinions on it?

The next time you top off the gas tank, pour one quart of automatic transmission fluid in the tank as well. Might be all that is needed. I've never used the Lucas products.

Are ya sure you're not getting rain water in around the exhaust pipe?

I've got a Hydro 70 that does that. Happens after every rain.

Lots of antisieze on the exhaust pipe threads helps. So does wrapping an old towel around the base of the muffler to divert the water. I assume you already have a rain cap.
