my 1950c is leaking hydraulic fluid out of the shaft that controls the lift on the left side the o ring looked fine is there a pressure relief valve that could be sticking? the reason I ask this is when i reassembled it and filled it up maybe a little over full and let it run then took off the fill plug it shot hydraulic fluid all over my chest and everywhere else. I realize over filling it could have caused this but am not sure if there could be other reasons

Usually the thing to do if you have a significant leak is to remove the thing and put a kit in it, $100+ by now -- as it will soon be leaking somewhere else. I hope you at least replaced the o-ring. I can't tell the difference between good and bad, so I replace all orings during inspection. If you can feel the oil with your finger, it is good enough -- about 1/2 inch below the hole if I remember right.

It's normal to have pressure under that fill plug, ya take that out real slow. I think the oil level is supposed to be about a half inch below the fill plug with the cylinders in.

thanks thats one lesson I won't forget real soon. I will have to look up one of those o ring kits
