I"ve got a 706 gas that is leaking hy-tran oil out of the trans oil filler hole where the dip stick goes. I"ve been around a laught of IH tractors but I have never seen one do this. It is not a steady leak, seams to come and go. The hyran oil is just below the full mark on the dip stick and the o-rings are on the top of the stick where they should be and seem to be a snug fit in the filler tube!! Any Ideas whats going on here ?? The oil looks good and all the hydraulics are working fine. Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

There were two different fill tubes used on that tractor. The early serial number tractor had a short fill tube and the later tractors had a longer fill tube. I don't know why the change but oil leakage may have been the reason or part of the reason. if you have the long tube and someone replaced the dipstick with one for the short tube then your HY-TRAN would be way over full however that is unlikely because the dipsticks were designed differently and the early dipstick would extend above the deck plate.

You might also check the gasket on the filter cover. If the pump is sucking air from outside the system and building up pressure in the reservoir it will push it out the fill tube.
