friend bought one this week and have limited knowledge of diesels. a few simple questions

what is the line with coolant that taps into the aircleaner pipe meant for??
why does the engine mount to top of frame rail in the front with a grease fitting?? one rail was already welded.is this for absorbing engine torque. seems it would weaken rail and are these rails not your standard or are the diesel specific

joe i am in ct and have one of the diesels. send me an email and ill give you my phone number more than happy to give you a hand, there great tractors but can be a little confusing at first.

There is a engine vent line that comes out beside the valve cover and goes to the air cleaner intake pipe. If it has the a IH A type injection pump there's a vent line from it up to a filter screwed into air intake line. If one of those is what you mean, There's a problem if collant is in it. Several frame rails with a few little changes were made. Some will work on gas and diesel and a lot won't. Diesel is the only engine that uses the front support. There's very little movement between support and front engine cover. Most haven't saw grease in years. Most have shims between the top of frame rails and front engine support. Original rails were only welded at the rear mounting flanges.
