48 Super A Hydraulic Pump

I was concerned about the shaft wear on my pump when we restored the tractor. I found hydraulic oil in the crankcase when I changed to oil this week.

Case/IH was $545.00 for a replacement! Is there any alternative, or should I bite the bullet and buy it?

put a speedy sleeve on the shaft where the seal goes and that will stop the hy fluid from going into the crankase along with a new seal. That should stop the problem.

Be careful when you put it back together with the new O-ring, it is easy to nick it, especially with a sleeve on the shaft. The instructions recommend using a seal jumper. I made one when I rebuilt my SA a few years ago.

Yes, thank you. I made one during the tractor restoration, it worked well.

There are several different pumps. Make sure you have the right parts and it is an easy fix. The speedy sleeve is a piece of cake to install, and it is cheep. All total you will be in to it about 125 or less. Ron
