240U whine in tranny

Have a high pitch whine in 3-4 th gear, some in 2nd. Tractor bought from orignal owner with about 4000 hrs. and recipts indicate wheel bearings and seals etc. is all that was don to it. What would be a fair ball game labor price to repair it.Parts extra. Dont use it for anything but hay rides and parades.Shifts good and cant put too much extra into it. I have put 140# oil and it helped some. Thanks

Unless it is a ever increasing whine, or so incredible in volume that it cannot be tollerated, it is normal. I would live with it. There are straight cut gears and tooth profiles that make noise but are strong. Ignore it if possible. JimN

Glad I read this post, I have had the same question on my son"s 240U. Doesn"t have any issues mechanically but sound bugged me but sounds like it is normal. Thanks!
