magneto oil

Hello again, everyone.

A few more small questions:

1) How much "sewing oil" should go into the impulse coupling on my Farmall B?

2) When I open the lid for the magneto oil (between the distributor's metal clip and the body of the tractor), the little space in there seems to be blocked. I'm wondering if that's right and I'm correctly putting oil into some sort of material that holds it, or if I need to try to get out whatever is in there... As it was, I could only put a few drops of oil (same type as for engine) in before it overflowed.

Thanks again,
Ross

1) Just a few drops.

2) Normal, unless it is full of dirt. The blockage is the part that oil is going to lubricate.

If it is dirty, you can usually pull out the piece of felt material (needle nose etc) and clean it with solvent. The felt absorbs oil and slowly lets it fall onto the working parts. It may have to be replaced, they are normally pretty cruddy and dirt packed.
