Does anyone know what to use to clean the outside of a F-20 mag? I dont know if it is made of aluminum or steel. I have seen restored ones and I like the way they shine like new. Thankyou for your time, Mark.

Mag is made of aluminum. I rebuild magnetos and I use glass beads in a beadblasting cabinet. After I take the magneto apart I generally clean all parts first in cleaning solution to remove oil and dirt. Then I beadblast to remove remaining dirt, oxidation and leave a nice clean finish. Finally I spray with a gloss clearcoat to keep them looking clean and nice.
