how to get w6 wheel off rusted spline

Got one wheel seal done, that hub came right off the spline, the leaky seal helped keep it from rusting to the hub, any ideas on how to break the rusted one loose from the spline, tried putting a hyd. jack in there but no luck, also had a chain hooked to the mast on forklift but no go , thanks Joe

joe, you are prolly gonna need to build a puller to get it off. get a stout beam, c-channel, or square tubing, heavy wall. big bolt and a nut welded to the center, and the use the holes in the cast center where the weights bolt up to anchor the puller. pb blaster everything up real good, then get the puller on and tighten it up, leave pressure on the center bolt that pushed against the axle stub. you may need some heat and some good whacks on the center bolt to get it to pop loose. them are a devil when they are stuck on.

Yep like Glennster was saying and describing youre probably gonna a T puller similar to the one pictured below. Than like he said you will likely need to heat it and hammer on it cause they can take a whole lot of force to get off the axle when they are rusted.

Good luck my friend had to remove the whole assy and use a very large press to get his loose and said it was a big bang when it finally let loose.

Joe I didn't have a puller to remove H wheels which were rusted on so I got a hydraulic jack against the trans case and with some blocks of wood I got it solid enough to start jacking and when I had lots of pressure on the jack, I hit the wheel..eventually I got it off.

Had this problem on a 1951 W6 used a porta-power tool and #2 torches to get hub off and that was the easy part the sleves that are between the hug a seal are the real problem ended up welding a pipe on them to pull them and made new ones, a hole lot of luck to you on this porject, also after everything was done and together one started leaking again so we had a machine shop cut a grove for an oring in the sleve and that stoped the leaking but 5 years latter the other side is at so thats this winters project.
