M drawbar bracket U-bolts

Two of the four U-bolts that attach the drawbar to the brackets on the axle trumpets are broken. Any idea if I can find these at the hardware store, or will I have to go to the scrapyard?

U-bolts? All I have ever seen are straight bolts, but you will not find the correct size and grade at any common hardware store.

O.K., I think I am following you. Those eye-bolts are on a pin that is welded into the bracket. You'll need to grind down the weld and knock the pins out to replace the eyebolt. Am I on the right track?

You should be able to get the eyebolts at your local CIH dealer. At least that is where I've gotten mine.

Rustyfarmall is correct in how they are removed. Put the new eye bolt in, insert pin & weld pin to brace.

Its possible some pins were welded in, but most original were not. They can be pressed out or hammered out when put on a solid surface with a hole under pin. Takes a big hammer sometimes. I have welded them back in sometimes.

That is correct. I think those pins were welded in only when a repair has been done. I bought a whole pile of H and M drawbar parts at an auction, some of those pins are welded in, and some are not.
