560 TA

My friend left his 560 sit outside for the last year or so and the TA will not shift into low. The levers and linkage move but it is just stuck in hi. Could it be possible to run it some and loosen it up or is he looking at splitting the tractor?

T/A clutch is not releasing. try using a while with t/a handle back and it may come loose if stuck. Don't park it or go down a steep grade with handle back though.

I told him that was the only thing I could think of but wasn't sure if it would tear anything up.

If the clutch facing is stuck driving it is the gentlest way to try to make it slip. If it is going to break a big piece of clutch facing off, it will probably do that anyway taking it apart.
