I have an Ih 484 that I am bush hogging with and today I used ot for a little bit and then it started acting like it was starving for power and it was sotra sputtering and putting out white smoke I cleaned the air filter and the radiator and it is still doing it and has no power at all PLEASE HELP

White smoke out of a diesel hints at atomized fuel not being able to ignite/combust. Of course there is no spark but the compression-ignition phenomenon sortof like a spark knock isn't there.

My guess is your injector pump isn't delivering the right amount or else not at the right time.

Better check your fuel filter/filters and replace before you do anything major. Could be high level of water and trash. Inexpensive fix sometimes. Sometimes you are not so lucky.

Hi James, check the fuel filters and the fuel flow out of the tank into the first fuel filter. With a clean bucket remove the fuel line from the tank where it goes into the first fuel filter, the fuel should flow at the full of the pipe. If not there is probably an obstruction in the fuel tank plugging the hole of the outlet valve. Can be anything from rust, dirt or dead bug.

Good luck

My 656 done it yesterday pulling the round baler. A combination of water and years of grit in the tank. If there is not a good fuel flow blow back through the line and you should hear a bubbling in the tank. Change the filters and you should be ok. Water has been my worst enemy this year. I changed fueling locations and found my problem then. My fuel tank that I use to haul fuel to my tractors/backhoe has a lock ring under the electric pump. It was loose and with all the rain this year it was seeping in and causing me lots of problems.Make sure the return line is not clogged either or you can have that problem as well. Good Luck
