1. Are hydraulic pumps interchangeable between Farmall C and Super C?

2. Do all hydraulic pumps for the C or Super C have a flat washer of some sort that is bent up to hold the nut on the end of the gear? I have seen some without and wondering if possibly some aftermarket ones do not have the washer.
 
I’m not sure about the washer but the several I went through when I replaced mine all had washers.
And yes there are several part numbers that are interchangeable between the C’s and even a couple of the smaller letter tractors.
I finely found a good one. Then about 6 months ago My son found a machine shop that built the shaft back up and turned it down
 
Do you think any machine shop could do that or just that one knew the correct diameter of the shaft?

Curious as to who they are?
 
The shaft only wears where the seal or oring go, thus the shop can get an accurate measurement. A GOOD shop can do that, some of the old geezer ones (I'm a geezer) can't. There are modern techniques that can be used that avoid losing the temper. One local guy said he could braze mine and turn it down. I asked him how long it would last. "He said to braze it you have to get it HOT". I went elsewhere and had the other one enlarge the shaft hole for a speedi sleeve -- necessary for an oring, but not a seal. Not as good as new, but they last a long time.
 
My thoughts on a flat washer retainer is that it does NO good except if it is keyed to the shaft/spindle.

I mention this because I have found several examples on tractors of well-meaning people doing this to no net effect due to the lack of any sort of key.

Red loctite and possibly a purposefully deformed top thread on the nut would be my friend in this situation.
 
The bent washer keeps the nut tight.The shaft gets pretty bad when the gear runs loose all because the washer wasnt there.
