Farmall 450 LP Quandry.

I just bought a Farmall 450 LP for two reasons. The head and the tires. You may have seen it recetly on "Echo Bravo Alpha Yankee" out in Colorado. The dilemma I have is that this tractor runs great and the tach works. It has 2700 original hours on it. The transmission is smooth as silk. The engine runs very smooth. It was almost out of fuel when i got it. I had to pull the regulator and the what I think is called an evaporator, place a carb on it and use a one gallon gas tank to drive it around. The steering is nice and tight. The brakes have alot of adjustment left. My dilemma is what to do. Do I use and sell it for parts or build it back up as a gas tractor. I have a 450 that I bought that was stuck very tight. I have still not attempted to get those pistons out. But with that 450 I have all the parts I need to make this one a very low hour 450 gas. With all that said, it seems like restoring and selling a tractor is a good way to lose money if your time is worth anything. Let me know what you think.

Larry, Restore/ Do Not Part Out! A 450 LP is a H3LL of a lot more rare and valuable than a regular ol run of the mill, can find on most any street corner 450 gasoline. Hollar at me later I have a fellows name up in Okla. who makes rebuilds kits for all that Ensign Carb and Regulators. That LP engine will have less wear than a gasoline engine with equal hrs. This IMO but others will disagree with me on this!

I agree with John A. Definitely restore and keep it. The 450LP is to rare and unique to part out. IMHO. If you don't like LPG sell it as is.

why ruin it converting from LP to gas? Its your tractor if you want to part it out but you have the best set up ever.

but if you do convert it...I would like to buy the carb, regulator and LP tank....I am working on a 400 lp that is a real diamond in trhe ROUGH and I MEAN ROUGH but it runs and is going to live again....not restored but working and earning its keep.

Railhead What do you need? I have info on a fellow who makes rebuild kits for ensign carbs and regulators.
