PULLING FRONT CRANK PULLEY ON A CUB

What is the best way to pull the crank pulley off a Cub crankshaft?

Got an engine that the crankshaft is broken into just behind the front rod journal.

Here is the plans for the puller I made to remove my pulley. I have since made another one, using 5/8 althread instead of the 3/4, since I use the 5/8 to push the pulley back on

I sure do appreciate the good information on pulling the Cub crank pulley. I worked for about five years at the local IH dealership here in Talladega and after having my memory jogged I think that the tool we had there was similar but used a big threaded rod to pull the pulley and took a long time and a lot of sweat.

I'll fabricate something similar to what you guys have done and see how I come out.

This is a block I'm trying to bore because it is badly worn in the bore and the crank is broken behind the #1 journal. Also the other two main caps are missing. Really just trying to hone my skills at operating the boring bar that the micrometer is not calibrated right on. Having to do some math to get the bore to come out right!!!!

Anybody want to let me have some old main caps so I can get it line bored. The block will be .030 bore when I get it done. (unless I read the mic wrong!) It's a really old Van Norman Model 944 bar where the cutting tool holder has to be set in a mic holder to set the cutting size and it gets tricky when the mic reads .020 over the actual size it cuts. That has to be factored in before the bar is started cutting. My old brain is having a hard time with the calcuations. My old brain is having a hard time finding my false teeth some days!!!! :O)
