Do the cub/A/B/C/140 models handle the 59" mower ok? Sorry I'm not real familiar with the different models. I'm pretty handy with anything mechanical, but didn't grow up anywhere near a farm, so know nothing of farm equipment!

I have a "40 A with 9.5 x 24 rears and a "53 Super A with 11.2 x 24 rears, both have L59 belly mount mowers and both mow very nicely, although the Super is a little faster with the 11.2s, maybe a little too fast for touch up or close to buildings and trees.

We recently bought a 48C with an L59 and it mows fine on the lawn but if you get in taller grass you have to go over it twice to make it look good, and it really looks good on the lawn. Must remember it's not a brush cutter! I suspect in taller grass the belt may be slipping on the small sheaves on the arbors, but they must be small to achieve enough blade speed. Last week I cut some slough grass which is very tough and the rain cap just opens farther, along with the governor, engine doesn't seem to be working that hard, We always run it almost wide open to get a nice cut.

Thanks guys! A local guy who knows far more about them than I said the "red" tractors didn"t have enough power to run the larger mower. BTW he has a loboy for sale. Go figure. Ya"ll don"t seem to have any trouble though ;)

A 59 is a little big for a Cub. I say that because my Super A has trouble sometimes -- because the grass/weeds are too tall. That is a finish mower which is not intended for tall grass. You can reduce the swath width. Keep the blades sharp.
