What is the average value of a 350 utility? Also, what are the problem areas or shortcomings that I need to look for?

Bought a used 300U in 1957.No power steering!! never had a loader, coustom baled hay with a 46 Baler, planted corn and beans with 6 row IH planter and culivated with a rear mount 6 row 2pt IH culivator. Rebuilt engine, and repaired TA. All I had to do was put rollers in the sprag clutch. Sold at auction after Dad pasted away in 1984. BIG MISTAKE!! I have aquired 350U and rebuilt it. Good little tractor and has a good power steering. Its my over grown lawn tractor!!

As Hugh and JLE indicate, they are as tough as any IH. Steering is tough if manual, and expensive to fix if power and broken. The reason many are found in poor shape is that they were used dramatically all their lives. With good tin, decent tires and working drive line/hitch, I think 3000 is not excessive. JimN

The two most likely problem areas are the steering gear box and torque amplifier.

In April in west Michigan, a 350U in good shape with power steering, torque amplifier, live PTO, new rear tires, three-point hitch, and a one-yard loader sold for $3,300. It had been advertised locally and on eBay.

The value of anything used is determined by how badly the seller wants to unload and how badly the buyer wants the item.
I've used two 300U's everday for at least 10 years without tearing into either one.
The hydro screen is one of the worst in IH to have to change.
Power steering is a must.
The rear pivot clutch pedal on the 350U is a big improvement over the forward pivot on the 300U.
In my opinion a nice clean 350U with power steering, a good TA and smooth running would be worth to me $2,000-$4,000.
Good Luck,

I meant to add that the TA, in my opinion, is not important.
I have one working and one not.
The only time I use it is once in a while backing into a loading situation it is nice to go reeeaaal slow and still carry some RPM.
Other than that I don't see the need for a TA at all.
