340 Hydraulic issue

Hello folks,

I"ve got a 340 rowcrop. Over the winter the pump went bad and I found that the whole system was full of crud. Replaced the pump and had the hydra touch control valves broken down and rebuilt, replaced the filters, got it all back together and primed the pump and it now works, sort of.

One control valve seems to be open, even though the lever is in the neutral position. I can hear the tractor under load. The other valve works as it should.

Is there an adjustment I can make or is something put together wrong? My guess is that the valve was put together wrong, but I didn"t think that was possible... I"d really hate to take it all apart again. just wondering if you guys might have run into this before and might know what to do.

Well, I can tell that the tractor acts like it's working harder as if the control valve is open and it's calling for fluid.

Thanks,

Jay

It looks like the same problem I am having with my 350u that I wrote in on acouple of posts ago. Do you have PS or a frt loader and is it being affected. Keep in touch.

This may not be the answer, but it very suspiciously sounds like the orifice and/or orifice screen is plugged. I am not familiar with a 340, but I suspect the hydraulic system is akin to what is on a 460/560.

If this is the case, then go to our website: www.oldoakfarmalls.com and click the link on the left "Fixing 60 Series Hydraulics."

I hope this helps.

I have PS (not affected). The other control valve works as it should so I think the problem is limited to just this control valve. The whole system was cleaned, new filters, screen is now clean as a whistle.

The reason I asked about PS is I think one of those valves from your hydro touch feeds the ps gear box. On mine my hydro touch works if the steering is turned but if it is not turned then it sounds like it is under a load and at times mine pressurises the tank. You say you have 2 valves, I think 1 runs the 3pt up and down but what does the other run?
