quick paint question

Hardener contains isocyanates, which are not filtered out by the usual charcoal mask. You need supplied air $$$. If you use hardener you might as well use urethane paint as it is longer lasting and more durable than the cheaper alkyd enamels. Do you have to use it? No, it is required only with urethanes which will not cure without it. For other opinions ask your question on the Paint and Bodywork Forum on this site.

No, you do not need the hardener unless the paint you are using requires it. Case-IH 2150 paint does NOT require hardener and will give excellent results.

That is a big help to me also.
Just got some 2150 from dealer.
Will use what the can says 1 thinner to 8 parts paint. Unless you have better ratio? I have used TSC paint in the past and it fades even in a shed.
Was wondering about hardeners too.
Glad ya'll answered the question.
This forum is great.

I went to an farm estate sale last summer for a young guy who died after painting out in his shop with something without a respirator. Made it to the house and couldn't breathe. Never heard for sure what he was painting with but I suspect it was hardner. He was restoring machinery.
