1947 BN Clutch Problem

I split my 47 BN to replace the ring gear chewed up by the starter. When I put it back together it started great. Now, though I don"t have any use of the clutch. I can put it in gear with the engine off but not when it"s running. Clutch goes in and out but with no effect. I know I must have done something stupid, anyone have any ideas on what it was?

I'm sceptical that you can even get the clutch back together with the disk in backwards. I deliberately tried it once to see if it can happen, and couldn't. The Pressure plate bolts are too short.

It sounds like your throwout bearing isn't pushing on the pressure plate fingers hard enough to release the clutch. Did you back off the clutch adjustment to disassemble then forget to re-adjust it?
Did you reassemble it correctly? You may have to take it back apart and see what is wrong.

Disk in back wards??? Throw our bearing in wrong or bad?? Pressure plate messed up?? Did you use an aliment tool when you put the clutch back in to the flywheel if you didn't and forced it you may have bent the clutch disk and if you did then you will have to buy a new one

I can not say yes or no in that tractor/engine set up but in a good many you can in fact put them in back words I know because I have made that mistake before and it was a lot of work to fix that mistake
