how do you tighten up the steering box on my Farmall 140? turn the wheel 1/2 turn before it moves

i had the same thing on mine it turned out to be a worn out woodruf key in the output shaft. I replaced the key and made it alot better. youll haft to remove the front axel to git at it. hope this helps. Bob

bigdiesel: Is the any end movement of steering shaft, if not those bearings are fine.
Two woodruff keys on the vertical shaft are very likely your problem. One on gear inside, the other on steering control arm. I've seen those two keys give 1.5 turns of free travel on steering wheel.
