230 tranny / clutch problem

Helper was disking the other day on the 230 and lost drive suddenly. Engine runs fine, but no power transfer to wheels. PTO works normal; engages and disengages with clutch. Shifter not jammed and seems to go in and out of each gear normally. Thought it was the clutch at first but not sure now because the PTO works. Maybe the transmission?

Anybody got any ideas? Thanks.

Axle broken off at the bull gear? Jack up the rear wheels and see if one will turn with the brakes applied.

Broken axles are a common problem with the C, Super C, 200,230 series. No need to jack it up to check, just put it in gear, let the clutch out and try each brake separately. If it tries to move with one brake on that side has the broken axle.

My experience is with the older tractors, I am not familiar with the 230, but if it has exposed shafts in the brake housing you will be able to see if they turn or not.
