hitch attachment to M Draw bar

Family got me a quack digger for my birthday to pull with my 1940 M. The hitch attachment on this trailing implement is like a round donut-- like for a pintel hook or something. The question for you guys is whether anyone has an idea of how to hook this up to my M?

thanks in advance. E.

Could you please explain what a "quack digger" is? I have been scratching my head trying to figure it out. A pic would even be better.

Back in the day we used either a twisted or straight clevis to pull moleboard plows with Ms & such depending upon the plow. A plow with trip bottoms had a loop on the hitch like you described & was attached to the tractor with a straight clevis. Plows that didn't have trip bottoms had a spring loaded hitch with a J hook that fit into a twisted clevis. When the plow hit an obstruction the
hitch would spring back & the J hook would jump up out of the twisted clevis unhooking the plow from the tractor & preventing damage to the plow.

A quack digger is also referred to as perhaps a chisel plow or spring harrow -- it is used to pull up quack grass- or any vegetation that grows with matted root systems. I got a pic but for the life of me i cannot figure out how to attach a pic to this posting. it works similar to a trip plow where gear mechanisms lower and raise the teeth.

Thanks. I looked at the clevis pin set up that was referred to-- that should work. I shoulda' figured that one on my own. i like the idea of a break away clevis set up, but not quite sure how that would be set up from the description. I guess quack digger is sort of an arcane term.

We had a Quack digger. It was a 7 foot John Deere Van Brunt. Never heard it called a field cultivator until we moved into a new neighborhood and they wondered what the heck a quack digger was.
