Help!! Baler trouble

Just bought a IH 47 twine baler. Owner said he used it last year, there was straw still in it.
He had the older rope looking twine in it,so I bought some poly twine 9000/130 from rural king.

I threaded it through the baler. As I was pulling it through the needles I noticed the twine pulled pretty hard. I checked all of the eyelets for a ware groove and they were all fine.

I ran some straw through it and noticed that it was not cutting the twine. Made an adjustment and the next bale it cut.

Now the PROBLEM, it would not tie the bales so I was watching the knotters and noticed that when it did knot, everytime the plunger came forward to pack the bale the knots would slip off of the knotter,it would take about three cycles of the plunger for this to happen.

Is my problem some cheap twine. Should I get some from a dealer. Thanks for any advice. Todd

There should be some resistance pulling the wire through the needles as there should be a tension mechanism there somewhere. I am not familiar with the IH knotters, but most of the others have twind discs that hold the end of the twine until the knot is tightened. Does the knot pull out on one side or the other? There is a tensioner on the twine discs that holds the twine to allow the knot to tighten, possibly needs some adjustment there.
I use poly twine, seems to be a couple of brands here no mater where you buy it. I think it has gotten to be pretty standard in size, the way wire used to be. As I sam I am familiar with NH knotters, if you can find an operator's manual it will lead you through the adjustments.

I have ran several thousand bales thru 45,46 and 47 balers. I never found a plastic or nylon twine that would work good in a IH baler. I used only twine made in Brazil as I found it was the most uniform and it would not gather in the tensioners.

I tried the plastic in a 47 YEEEARS ago when it first came out. Never could get it to tie right. Dealer's mechanic said "Put a new set of knotters on it".

Went back to using 9000 sisal and no more problems.
Sold baler last year and it still would tie a thousand without a miss.

I agree with the others, use only 9000 ft regular baler twine in IH Balers. The only models that work properly with plastis twine are the IH Balers with the "All Twine" knotters.

You can make plastic twine work reasonably well on the older IH knotters but you have to remove shims from the twine holder disk and keep the twine knife sharp. The basic problem is the plastic twine is thinner than regular twine and the twine holder disk lets go of the cut end of the twine when the bale is being formed.
