my tractor has very little power. last night while mowing, it quit. seems to have very little compression and does not start now. my question, rebuild, find different engine or change engine to something else. need some guidance. thanks steve roberts

Before advice can be given, you should do a compression check, wet and dry, check the valve clearances, direct oil pressure check and do a tune up; plugs, points, rotor, wires, cap and coil (the works). Check timeing as well.
This will be much cheaper than rebuilding or replacing the engine. If all is bad, I would rebuild the engine if the clutch, PTO and mower deck are still in good shape.
