The Governor?

My M has been running so good for the last few years. But now...The tractor does not maintain a steady idle, kind of hard to describe. It sort of oscillates at idle and at near full rpm. RRRmmmmm, RRRmmmmm, RRRmmmmm...etc.
Could this be my governor?

lot of guys refer to that as "hunting" ie the rpm surges. could be in the governor, but try and adjust the carb first. sometime richening the mix will eliminate the problem. reset the idle circuit and then the main load jet and see if it helps.

After setting the carb, if no better, check the point gap which might cause this type of thing.
