706 quick attatch / 3 point advise

New to the bigger Farmall tractors. I have a chance to trade my 3020 gas for a 706 gas. I am worried about the quick hitch and its arms being stong enough to do what I need it to do. I pull the scarficer and leveler and some times a 4000 lbs. roller behind it and have to make some prtty sharp turns. The 3020 3 point has no problems at all but I am not for sure about the quick hitch or its attatchments. If the 706 had the 3 point I would of traded all ready. Thoughts

You'd hook that roller to the drawbar on the 706, not the fast hitch.

The fast hitch on the 706 is every bit as strong as the one on the 3020 if not more so. Those lift arms look a bit spindly on that 3020 compared to the 706.

Actually I pull the roller behind the leveler. I noticed the quick hich arms on the 706 look pretty strong. The parts I am not for sure about is what you place in to the quick hitch.

Chances;

You can get 3pt.to fast hitch adapters for the 706. You will also need a bracket that mounts on the tractor above the pto for the top link. They aint cheap.

The earlier 706 had a lighter wishbone where the fast hitch forks go in. The later 706, with flat top fenders and longer hydraulic levers, have a heavier wishbone. But either way, if you are over 60 or hate jacks and jacking up equipment, you will love a fast hitch. Be sure to get the drawbar for it. You will never use a jack again. As for 2 to 3 point adapters, there are 2 different types. One type uses individual forks and then you buy the 3rd arm plate that goes above the pto. Be sure you get the correct plate. Some were made for semi mounted plows that didn't require any real strength. As I recall they only had one hole. The correct plate is cast with 2 holes. The other type is a one piece unit with forks and 3rd arm all in one piece. These don't look very heavy but I have lifted an 8 row flat fold cultivator with one on the back of a 460. It made the tractor a little light in the front end though.

I understand your point.
The 3020 is in need of a overhaul soon. It has a few other problems also. The 706 has new rear rubber, and is in very good mechanical condition or at least I think it is. Both are similar in apperance. So I would say its close on value. I am in the position that trading it it is the best for me at this time. The 706 belongs to a freind and we have disclosed all problems with each tractor.

Wondering;

When I was in the market for a tractor I looked at a 3020. Too many little things about it I didnt like.Not to say they arent a good tractor. Found a 706 ger diesel. Now that was a good tractor.
