This is part two. Thanks for the tips by the way. OK so I hit a hedge post set in concrete a glancing blow with the right front tire on a wide front end 706.

Oil went to spewing out on the left side. Several suggested blown o rings, cracked head on the PS piston, taking the left frame rail off to fix it. ( I was really dreading that as the loader was on it.)

Anyway I was entitled to a little good luck. On the two lines that run along the frame rail, one had worn a thin spot and it ruptured in that thin area. I'll bet that by rupturing there, it might have protected something more expensive and hard to fix.

Other part of the good luck, dealership has the line in stock. Try going to Ford or Chevy and them having a 40+ year old part in stock.
course cars were never meant to last that long.

Anyway, I just about have it whipped, pick up the part tomorrow.

Man, you get a little of that Hy-Tran on you and it really perfumes you up!!

Gene. About a month ago the a/c went south in my Dodge CTD 2500. Found a gash in the aluminium end of the cooler hose where it rubbed on the radiator support. Priced a new hos, and it's an assembly with manifold, at Mopar. 188 dollars. And a bunch of work to R&R Drove the truck into a friendly shop and he welded that aluminum tubing and billed me $20.

Just saying balance the price of new versus a little pro welding.

Glad it was as simple as the line replacement and yes a bath in Hy Tran lasts as i have been smelling like that for years and it does not come out of clothes well either Just ask the War Dept. as she has tryed everything .

I came in from harvest one warm night last fall and my 16 year old daughter just had a fit about the way I smelled. I told her "Kid, that is sweat, dirt, bean dust, tobacco juice, and preparation H all mixed together!" I was just being completely honest with her!:^)

gene, once they spray hy-tran at you, they get used to it and do it all the time. being the good guy that i am, and always looking out for your well being, for a couple hundred dollars in small unmarked bills, i'd be more than happy to take that 706 off your hands. i'd sleep a lot better knowing it was in my tool shed, and that you were safe!!!!!!
:) ;-)

hows it been going gene? ever get that compressor up and running?

Glen, thanks for your kind words. I figured you would have to weigh in on this.

No, I am keeping the tractor, and No I didn't get a compresser put together.

Tell you why. I got a new company truck. It came with a $500 Lowes gift card. It came to my office, I called my boss to let him know and he said, "I never heard anything about a gift card" So I put $300 with it and bought one from Lowes.

It's a time issue, Just when I get my head above water, something else breaks. Right now I have the engine tore down in the wifes lawnmower, course I had to spend almost $6000 to buy her a spare. Then the 706 breaks. Just paid CaseIH $166 for parts for that.

The tank and stuff are still setting in my shop.

Any chance of plumbing that into the new one for extra capacity?

Might buy a sandblaster.

Good to hear from you!!!!

gene, just run a pipe from your compressor to the tank on the one i gave you. there should be some small fittings up top. be sure to put a drain valve in the bottom of the tank to bleed off any condensation. my shop compressors are hooked up tandem, so we have 240 gallons of air capacity. they are 3 ph 10 hp, around 30 cfm pumps. so far we havent got ahead of the compressors yet!! are you looking for a pressure pot or cabinet blaster? sct blast from tp tools has a real nice cabinet unit with the vaccuum. here is a link. get the foot pedal and the carbide nozzles. we were using the crushed auto glass media, but switched to the aluminim oxide media, a lot less dust, cuts quicker and lasts a lot longer too
scat blast

Gene, which was tougher, the Missouri osage orange hedge post or the concrete?
