H Model 6 Volt Regulator Wiring ?

My H has a 6 Volt system that was inop. I have replaced the components and rewired the system per the diagram but can not find any info on how to wire the replacement regulator that sits atop the generator. It has 3 terminals on the same side and one below. I'd appreciate any insight anyone has as to how to wire the regulator. I believe I have the same system "Lucky 3" described. "the new one has three termanal's on one side, Gen. Field and the third one has the letter I stamped on it and a forth termanal underneith and between the bottom of the Regulator and the Generator". It also has has a resistor about an inch long with a screw through it.

I need to replace the 4 postiion switch and would appreciate any leads as to where I can find one. I believe the ammeter works.

Thanks, VFM

This diagram at the link below should work.

The terminals will be labelled on your regulator to match the diagram. If memory serves GEN is the one located underneath.

For the light switch your best bet is to pick up a 3-position switch at a boneyard. A 4-position switch will work also but with a voltage regulator installed the 4-postion switch's "L" and "H" positions serve simply as two alternate "off" positions for the lights.

Thanks Bob. I'll give it a try this evening. Can you recommend a site for a replacement switch? The one installed is pretty corroded and probably should be replaced. Can you recommend a site?

If there's a tractor boneyard nearby I'd suggest trying there. Also look on Ebay - Farmall switches (usually including the box cover and ammeter) are offered regularly.

Or if you are not a stickler for originality most any generic push-pull or toggle switch will do the job nicely though you will lose the "dim" setting for the front lights.

The "dim" setting provided by the OEM light switch is an essentially useless feature BTW...

Thanks Bob I'll find one. Really appreciate the help. I've reviewed the diagram you provided and will make the necessary changes to the regulator wiring this evening.

I'll let you know how I make out.
