Gas shut off stem leaking on McCormick Deering 10-20

I have a 1928 McCormick Deering 10-20 and the gas leaks at the stem of the gas shut off. I tightened the packing nut but the nut is in as far as it can go. Hope someone can help. If I can't stop the leak is it possible to buy a new sediment bulb. It has two tanks, one large for keresone and a small tank for gasoline starting.

Thanks Wayne Wiseman

take the nut off after you remove the entire needle assembly. get new packing to replace the old, then put it back together. seems silly to get a whole new assmbly when you only need to fix one protion of the old one

Wayne: You might want to try this. Drain the gas from the tank, Loosen the packing nut and back out the shutoff until you can see the shaft. Then wind a few wraps of water faucet packing material (a graphite coated cord-available at a hardware store) Screw the shutoff back in a ways and replace the nut. Be sure to turn in the shutoff as you tighten the nut.
