Any last minute advice before I pull the sleeves out of my 340's block?

I am on the way to pickup some threaded rod, 3/4".

I've machined up a puck which pilots into the bottom of the cylinder bore, this is 1/2" thick and is not larger than the sleeve's OD so it wont drag/bind if I am still pulling by the time the puck gets to the inside of the cylinder case.

I have a 1/2" wall-thickness ring that clears the flange on the top of the sleeve and a heavy 3/4" thick bar which spans across the ring. The ring is 2" tall...so theoretically I can pull upwards for 2" before my puller goes solid.

I plan to use 80W90 to lube the hex nuts and threaded rods doing the heavy work.

Any last minute pointers or advice? Thanks

Holy cow, Matt!

If you were on your way to get some threaded rod at 7:51 and all done with the job by 9:44, I'd say "everything went perfectly" is almost an understatement.

I think you need to either pinch yourself, or reinstall those sleeves and pull them again just to make sure. ;-)

Good job!

Thanks...that was about the easiest thing that went down all day long!!!

Here are a couple of pics for interest. I did not bother to cut off the threaded rod simply because I might need it somewhere else someday at the original length. Could be adapted to sleeve pullers on the other two tractors that need engine work in the future, though. I think the 3/4" threaded rod is a little overkill for these sleeves...not much effort was required.
