Paint and rust removal

I saw an arctical where the guy used a tub of water with two gallons of myratic acid to remove paint and rust. Let it set over night. Hosed it off.
I have some myratic acid that I used it to clean a pipe fence. Bad move. Those sections rusted from underneath very quickly. Kept rusting.
So, will the tractor do the same? Anyone tried this?

Bad plan.

With only a little more effort, a battery charger and a couple of old lawn mower blades you can experience the wonders of electrolysis. Uses washing soda instead of acid. Do a search on it here. You'll find any number of threads on it. Aimed primarily at rust, but will get under any loose paint, too

An off-YT site mentioned in one of the YT I articles I pulled up. It gives a pretty thorough explanation.

For parts too big for an electrlysis bucket or tub, you can find commercial preparations of phosphoric acid that can be brushed on and either rinsed off or left to dry and any residue knocked off with a scotch-brite. They convert the rust to iron phosphate which is much more stable. Kind of the same concept as bluing on a gun. Ospho is one brand, I've seen some unde the Jasco label. Can often be had at HD or Lowes.

HCl, hydrochloric acid, common name muratic is a strong acid. Phosphoric is a "weak" acid, mostly harmless when used in ospho or other rust inhibitors. I would not use HCl for your intended purpose. It can actually dissolve metal.

Muratic acid is what they wash excess mortar from brick walls with mixxed 1/gal to 4/gal water (1:5 ratio) You brush on with a stiff brush the hose off about 10 minutes later... Too long and the brick turns greenish. I worked for a masonary contractor for a while. HCI is BAD stuff. Phospheric acid is what HVAC/V guys use for cleaning A/C coils. Makes alumniun white.
