cleaning bolts

Does anyone have a good way to clean bolts? Remove rust and old paint. Thanks for your suggestions. Warren

I use a wire wheel on a bench grinder. Use gloves or vice grips. Holding in your hand can get you hurt, dont ask how I know!

Also eye protection.

If they are just rusty, place in a container with OSPHO (trade name for Phospheric Acid). Leves them nice and black with a white powder when dry. It is a primer and a rest neutrilizer. I just clean them with a wire brush after they dry then paint.

Soaking in vinegar will clean them up also mite take a couple days and you mite need to ghange and put in new stuff after couple days.

you can use black walnuts.while they are still in the green shell,that is what we used on rusty steel traps.put in bucket with a little water let them soak
