C clutch

Drove the C a quite a bit recently, and now am concerned about the clutch, doesn't seem to slip at all, but doesn't engage until the petal is almost all the way up, but it does have about 1" free-play at the top. Is this normal? I have a book for it but its up at the farm.

As the clutch disk wears the pedal will be closer to the platform before it engages.

You can use the adjustment on the rod to set the engagement point where you want. Just make sure you have at least an inch of free travel at the platform and that the clutch completely disengaged when depressed. If you keep it between those measurements just put it where it is comfortable for you.
