Thanks to all who helped....

Got my super H fixed. It was NOT the carb. I cleaned it ten times, turned out to be an intake leak. So who ever suggested that was spot on.
Also i just got back a 1940 H fresh from south dakota, and she must of sat for while the gas in the glass jar turned to "putty" I never see that before. So I need to go thru the fuel system and carb. How about the radiator do you guys think i should take it in a and get it boiled out? There was no water in it at all. Tractor had engine oil and is free. any other suggestions, this tractor was the very first one i seen when i was five, and my dad ran it alot when he was younger. The travtor never left the 1000 acher farm until now. It means alot to me and my dad and we want to do it right. john

Take a look inside the radiator to see if the tubes are open. You could fill it with water
and see how if it's going to cool. It probably
wouldn't overheat unless you're working it hard.

I would put in new oil and change the filter. Check the gear box levels too. You may want to drain a little bit out to see if any water is present. Hal

I agree with El Toro
Put water in it and see if it leaks out. If not, run it. I'm glad your SH is running, Intake leaks are tough to deal with sometimes. Jim

Hi Jonny!

My fuel system was putty as well on my '44 H. I replaced everything up to the carb, including the fuel tank. But that's because a new tank came with the tractor. If I was in your situation... I'd remove the tank and have it boiled clean. I'd get a new fuel sediment bowl and new fuel line. I'd completely rebuild the carb as well.

As far as the radiator... as the others have said, put water in it and see what happens. Maybe you can just flush it out.

Good luck! Let's see some photos of it!

I had oil in my radiator and things were pretty gummy. I filled it and put in a dishwasher tab and ran it a couple hours and drained, then ran it another 15 min or so w/ the drainplug open and a water hose keeping up with the loss . Everything looked like new. I could see where that would do your gas tank some good also. About 3/4 full of hot water and a tab (or dishwasher detergent) and stick in an airhose or something to keep the water sloshing for a while. Make sure it'd dishWASHER detergent and not dishWASHING detergent (dishwashing detergent suds' up too much).

Good Luck,

Dave
