Farmall M puller

just got done putting my pulling motor into the tractor fired her up today and all i can get her to do is idle. try to give her some throttle and spits and sputters like its not getting enough fuel. am running 6 inch stroker 4 3.8 bore with 450 LP head. lots of compression. got distributer and carb send out and had them rebuilt and built for pulling. anybody have any suggestions. any help would be appreciated.

Did you get the shaft inside the tube from carb to governor in the notch?

yes, i have checked that numerous times. tomorrow i am going to put a different carb to make sure that is not the problem...any other suggestions

Turn out the load screw a half turn at a time, lean it may be.
If not you may have timing problems (check static and higher speed timing with a light. JimN

First, insure you are not having a fuel feed problem by bypassing your fuel line setup and using a line run from a plastic bottle to the carb. Just cut a hole in the side of the bottle almost at the bottom and silicon some fuel line into it. Hook other end to carb fuel inlet and be sure to hold the bottle higher than the carb. If it runs fine like this, you need to change the route of your fuel line or maybe it or your filter is clogged, or maybe they are just not big enough to handle the fuel requirements. If it still has the trouble running that way, then you have eliminated fuel flow issues. Time to try something else.

Try setting your initial timing at idle to dead 0, then leave the lock down bolt loose while you try adding throttle. Twist distributor to move timing up or down till it smooths out. If you find it will run just fine when advanced or retarded severely, then you have the distributor in one tooth off. Either pull and reinstall distributor correctly, or just move each plug wire up to the next hole and don't worry about it. The only other thing is it could have too much advance built into the distributor. You'll need to ask the person who rebuilt it for you how much they put in, or if they say they left it stock, then it is 40 degrees worth of advance.

If neither of the above work, let me know and I'll give you some more suggestions.
