504 utility

I'm looking at a 504 utility for $5000. It has a all hdy. loader and is SUPPOSE to be in nice shape. Would you please tell me if this is the going price and what I should check for on the tractor. Any other information you can give me would be much appreciated.
thanks again

A little on the high side but a good loader will make up the difference. I would hate to sell mine any cheaper. I priced a 606U with a loader and good TA to a guy last week for 2700.
00 and he thought it was too high with 4 new tires(this week it went back to 5500.00)

At external_link they list as average price at auction $3700. and average retail as $5020. A 504 has the best power steering of any IH tractor I have ever had. It is strickly a very light duty outfit, though. Not enough power to do very much in the field.

Just one thing to think about or look at.

Loader tractors are typically light in the rear end. Which can be fixed in a number of ways.

If the tires were ever chloride-loaded, that can have a tendency to eat the rear rims if leaks developed...quick visual check would confirm or dispel that notion.

I wish my 460U-loader had filled tires...one item on the future list. I can barely back up a gentle hill with zero bucket load without losing traction.

The other thing is to think about how you'll use the tractor other than for loader service...where things like 3-point and IPTO add "value" for other types of work. The tractors are optioned differently of course.
