My father just took possesion of his fathers super a farmall, this tractor has been repainted over time, but it looks to me that the original color was white, We found the serial # and it falls into the 1950 range, Is there a way to find out if this serial number tractor was originally white in color?

Yes there were white ones in 1950.
I believe all the white ones were demo tractors.
I really don't think the production model was sold white.

Thanks for the reply, we are pretty sure it was orginally white, does anyone know how many white one's were produced and what the serial numbers may be?

IH did not keep track of which ones were painted white, so there is no way to prove without a doubt that your tractor is a white demo.

I believe that the white demos were done in the first 3 months of 1950. The serial number range can be found with a little research. You can estimate rougly by dividing the difference between 1950 and 1951's starting serial numbers by 4, and adding that to the 1950 starting serial number.

The fact that it is a 1950 model and has evidence of white paint is a good clue, but is not conclusive. Unless you can find someone that can verify that the tractor was originally white, you'll never know. However, you will not be wrong in painting it white if you want. It will also be a good idea to somehow record that the tractor is possibly a white demo for future generations.

1st 3 months of 1950 SA SN's 281269-285298, C was 47010-54411, Cub was 99536-106511. Presented by Richard Lantis, a deceased IH dealer, his dad had the business in 1950 when the white ones were produced, he was about 10 then, I believe. Pretty much etched in stone, regardless of what anyone else says. Richard was the expert. One exception, there may have been some red ones in the period, as IH may have stopped the white ones, gone back to red, then decided to do more white. They were NOT randomly scattered during that 3 month period.
