I have only collected Fords up until now. I always wanted a Cub. Just had one delivered to me, I only saw pic's of it did not see tractor in person. The engine runs great. I was able to take care of alot of small problems with help from reading tractor sites. I am having a problem with a whine from the rear-end. I changed the oil and the whine is still there. If I press the clutch in while moving the noise goes away. If I put in netrual and roll down hill the noise goes away. if I have in gear and go down hill the noise is bearley noticable if not gone. This happens in all gears. Any ideas that would help with the noise? It's driving me nuts. Thanks Don

difficult to tell without hearing it, but cubs use square cut gears, so whines of varying degrees are common in them. Frequently different depending on what gear you are in.

Its natural for a cub to whine. Mine has been whining for better than fifty years, with no ill effects. Hope you enjoy yours, they are a great little tractor.

What did you use in the tranny, Hytran or 85-140. 85-140 with Lucas additive will usualy quiet them down, but some noise is just the nature of the beast.
