1066 question

I"ve got a 1066 with a cab and i"m finished with that cab. I"m about to pull it off this fall and am wondering where I could find some fenders for the thing. I probably need the platform as well. I"d like to have a two post canopy also. Anybody know where I could find these items? Thanks for any help.

Go to auctions and do a google search. They are hard to come by and you aren't going to get them cheap. You'll need to rewire your lights and terminate any connections that were going to the cab. I don't know of any commercial two post hard canopy so you might need to have one fabricated. you might find an old "junked" 1066 with the configuration you're looking for cheaper than buying the parts separately

Brad, welcome to Scrounging 101.

There is no "Old Tractor Parts Mart" superstore where you can just go, pick what you want off the shelf like so many groceries, and buy it.

Your best bet is local farm tractor scrapyards. If you live in an agricultural area you're bound to have at least one scrapyard within a couple hours' drive at most. How do you find them? You ask around. You look in the yellow pages. Make friends with the mechanic at the local CaseIH dealer.

You can buy reproduction flat top fenders from A&I dealers (look 'em up on the web), and Saginaw County Tractor sells 2-post ROPS. The platform will still need to be sourced from a scrapyard.

Thanks guys, I knew it would be hard to find. I may have to do without the canopy but its certainly worth a try. I'm gonna check around with some salvage yards but wanted to check with people on here first. If anybody has anything let me know. Thanks again.

If you remove the doors and all the glass from that cab, you will basically have what you want, and you won't need to go hunting for hard to find parts.

You didn"t say what all problems you are having, but I second Rusty Farmall's suggestion. Removing door and windows seems like where I would start.

The reason I'm taking it off is I don't like it. These cabs on the 66 series tractors are the worse I've ever been in. I've been in 40 & 30 series Deeres and series 3 Whites. I'd rather have an open station than having that cab on it. I've already taken the doors off of it, cab is next.

I know alot of people don't like it but try ebay for the fenders. There are 2 different places to find the canopy. One is on ebay and the other is McGrew Equipment in northern Indiana. They also have a place in Pa. If you find one that came off an IH tractor be prepared to spend $1000. over what these guys charge, even if it's all banged up.
