The person I bought my F-12 from had started to paint and restore it. he put the decals on the gas tank, with the F-12 on the bottom. He also used the 1 1/2" double sided foam rubber gasket material that you use on a truck cap in place of the cotton webbing between the straps.
Needless to say, I have taken the tank off, stripped and repainted it. I also got new webbing from Rice Equipment, and new decals.
Here are my questions:
1.) On the front of the tank, should I place webbing between the hood and tank, then another piece between the hood and strap? OR just a piece between the strap and hood? I am thinking I should put webbing between both, but want to be correct.
2.) I had a hell of a time getting the large decals on, and in fact ruined one. the 2nd one is OK, but not great. The small F-12, and patent decals went on just fine. Any "been there, done that" guidance on getting the large decal on without screwing it up?
ps. the seller of the decals is sending me 1 large one to replace the one I destroyed during the miserably failed installation attempt.
thanks for any feedback here.
